Registration Fees 

June 9th Conference Sessions (all access): $125.00

June 8th Pre-Conference Reception: $50.00

 

Your $125.00 conference fee includes entry into all presentations, CNE credit, and two meals (breakfast and lunch). 

Cancellations received by May 1, 2025 will be refunded minus a $20 processing fee. No refunds will be given after May 1, 2025.

Keynote Session: Dr. Sara Horton-Deutsch and Dr. Jean Watson

“The Art of Integration: Caring Science Meets AACN’s Essentials”

This session explores the integration of Watson's Caring Science principles with the updated AACN Essentials, demonstrating how caring theory enriches modern nursing competencies. An overview of Caring Science, the AACN Essentials, and the ANA definition of nursing will frame the presentation. Through brief discussions and real-world examples, participants will discover practical strategies for weaving caring science concepts into curriculum design, clinical practice, and student learning outcomes. It is perfect for nursing educators seeking to balance the art and science of nursing education while meeting accreditation standards.

Debriefing with Good Judgment: Christian Striggow

This course introduces the foundational practices of the Debriefing with Good Judgment© method of debriefing used for structuring an effective conversation and facilitating reflective dialogue following healthcare educational events. Taught by the MultiCare Simulation Educators, this course will equip participants with the tools to communicate effectively and safely using curiosity and Good Judgment© following educational events.

Improving Teamwork and learning in escape room simulation: Kat Avichouser 

This course will walk the learner through how to bring game-based learning into simulation through an escape room. Focusing on teamwork, collaboration and communication, this course will provide useful tools on leveraging technology and puzzles to achieve this. The workshop will offer the learner a chance to work as a team to build their own puzzles creatively with the tools provided in the course.

Extended Reality: Dr. Janine Hinton

Join us to examine how Extended Reality (XR) immerses learners in realistic patient care scenarios, conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI) enhances interactions with digital patients, and biosensors provide real-time physiological data to personalize and adapt simulations to individual learners. By blending these technologies with compassionate, patient-centered approaches, we can better prepare healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, empathetic care in an increasingly digital landscape. 

Clinical debriefing utilizing the Plus Delta Plus model: Keith Jones

This presentation will describe why “Plus-Delta-Plus is an effective debriefing tool and should be used with others. The learners will be introduced to the four phases of Plus-Delta-Plus and how beneficial it is for warm and cold debriefings.

Using Faculty Development to Increase Simulation Best Practice Standards in a Healthcare System: Kat Avichouser, Christian Striggow, Keith Jones

This presentation explores how a small simulation team can shape simulation best practices in a large health system through faculty development. The course concentrates on recruiting simulation faculty, training them in best practices, bolstering their confidence, and expanding the simulation faculty program. The program aims to ensure that all healthcare workers in the system feel they are participating in safe and effective simulation activities.

Game-Based Learning in Graduate Nursing Education: Dr. Scot Petty

This presentation explores the use of game- based learning in graduate education from basic gamification to escape rooms and into the future with virtual reality. Explore strategies to expand student engagement and increase learning for the graduate student of today and tomorrow.

"Thriving Together: Nurturing Wellbeing in Nursing Education" 

This interactive session addresses how to use the principles and practices of Caring Science to create engaging and interactive learning environments that focus on the well-being of faculty and students alike. Faculty will be guided through interactive practices that begin with an intentional pause, time to reflect, and an invitation to reconnect to purpose. Participants will explore methods to foster learning environments that build resiliency, nurture what it means to be a nurse, and enhance vitality in their educational environments.

All conference activities will be held in the Grand Ballroom on the third floor of Hemmingson Center. 

Parking is available free of charge on the green levels of the BARC parking garage immediately across the street from Hemmingson Center.

Hemmingson Center and the BARC parking garage are equipped with elevators and ADA door openers.

A private lactation room is available inside Hemmingson Center (the key card can be picked up at the Welcome Desk on the first floor). 

 

 

There are several hotels within walking distance to 网爆门 University, as well as many hotels in downtown Spokane near the beautiful Riverfront Park.

Arriving by plane? 

Many downtown hotels offer airport shuttles. You can also choose to use the for a bus or a taxi service to and from the airport. 

Getting around Spokane

The zero-emission City Line bus runs every 15 minutes (30 minutes on Sundays) and is a great way to get around, connecting from Browne's Addition, through downtown and the University District. If staying near 网爆门's campus, you can use the Centennial Trail to walk to Riverfront Park and the main downtown attractions.
