Community Wellness

A Cornerstone of Our Student-Athlete Experience

Community Wellness involves connecting with, serving, and being a leader in the community, as well as having an interest in and concern for the needs of others, humankind, and the world.

Community wellness at Íø±¬ÃÅ University is especially important for our student-athletes. It means building strong connections, serving others, and leading by example both on and off the field. This approach aligns with Íø±¬ÃÅ's mission to honor the dignity of every person and support those who are poor and vulnerable.

The Life Skills Development Program engages student-athletes in volunteer work, community service, leadership activities, and fostering a supportive environment. These experiences help them develop life skills, social responsibility, and a culture of care, balancing their academic, athletic, and community roles.

Community Wellness Resources for Student Athletes

We aspire to generate and communicate a student-athlete voice within the Athletic Department, the WCC and the NCAA regarding the academic and athletic welfare of our student-athlete community. As role models, we also strive to develop leaders through Íø±¬ÃÅ's long standing Catholic, Jesuit, and humanistic traditions by being firmly committed to service, opportunity and social justice.

A program designed to further develop student-athletes' leadership skills as students, athletes, and leaders on campus and in the community. Members are selected to participate in the developmental program to further improve themselves as mentors and leaders on their respective teams and on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

At Íø±¬ÃÅ, our students are dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of others. They mentor youth in public schools, volunteer at family and senior housing communities, and promote social justice around the world. Through these experiences, they not only help others but also grow and transform themselves.

The Center for Community Engagement at Íø±¬ÃÅ coordinates a wide range of community and public service programs. These include community-engaged learning courses, volunteer and outreach programs, and external volunteer projects. We offer many opportunities for you to support causes you care about, develop valuable leadership skills, and fulfill Íø±¬ÃÅ’s Jesuit mission of working with and within communities.
